The year 2014 is so impressive. We overcome so many obstacles with a great number of practical reform initiatives that are closely related with the interests of the people in our reform drive. Our economic development has reached a “new and normal” stage, in which great progress has been made in economy and society, and people’s lives. In December 12, the water flows to its destination through the middle line of South-to-North Water Diversion Project. During the construction of the project, over 400 thousand people along the line are relocated. I should pay my deep tribute and appreciation to them for their selflessness. I wish you have better live in your new homes. We made hard efforts in the correction of the atmosphere and discipline in the governments at all levels, with focus on the opposition of formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance. The situation has been improved a lot. We also strengthen our efforts on the fighting against corruption, punishing those corrupt officials, showing our firm determination to punish evil of corruption. During the year, we cooperate with countries around the world. We hosted the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, and our nation leaders went aboard frequently and received a lot of foreign leaders in China. These activities give the world an opportunity to know China better.
为了做好这些工作，我们的各级干部也是蛮拼的。当然，没有人民支持，这些工作是难以做好的，我要为我们伟大的人民点赞。
For these jobs abovementioned, our officials at all levels did try their best. Therefore, the people’s support is the base for our success. I should say “well done” to our great people.

During the year, we defined a great number of memory days through legislation and held some grand ceremonies, such as Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War Victory Day, Martyrs Day, and National Mourning Day for the Nanjing Massacre victims. We want to express that we should never forget those people who made contributions and even devoted their cherished lives to the country, the nation and the peace.
这一年，我们也经历了一些令人悲伤的时刻。马航MH370航班失踪，150多名同胞下落不明，我们没有忘记他们，我们一定要持续努力、想方设法找到他们。这一年，我国发生了一些重大自然灾害和安全事故，不少同胞不幸离开了我们，云南鲁甸地震就造成了600多人遇难，我们怀念他们，祝愿他们的亲人们都安好。
During the year, we also experienced some sorrowful moments. With the missing of the Malaysia MH370 airline, over 150 of our people lost. We should never forget them. We should continue our efforts to find them. During the year, we experienced some major natural disasters and accidents, some compatriots left us unfortunately. Over 600 people were killed in the Ludian Earthquake in Yunnan province. We miss them and wish their relatives well and peaceful.
